Met a friend who I hadn't seen for a long time. Sat talking for nearly 3 hours and staff were friendly and didn't rush us out thank-you. Food was good

If ya want a nice dinner and friendly staff defo recommend here ask for Gary or phil these guys will defo get ya a table thanks guys great food and great staff ������

I have been going to the griff for over 2 decades, my most favourite place ever, love the food, the atmosphere, the staff, love mike. They always make us feel so welcome, never had a bad meal or bad service. Cannot praise them enough ��

Had a meal here with my family today , was lovely � Havent been there for years . Our waitress was lovely too . Reasonable priced definitely recommend.

Had a big meal for my birthday today � had an absolutely wonderful waiter who couldnt have done more for me and my family, full of personality and so helpful with the kids � food was fantastic as usual, everyone was happy with the service we received �

Let’s start off with the good. I had their fillet steak as a main and I believe it’s one of the best fillet steaks around. I have been many places and beefeaters fillet steak is full 5 stars. The starter was nice too which was loaded potato dippers, my only recommendation to them about this is being like cut up cheese boat strips or being loaded potato skins and not very very thin slices that are topped, but that’s personal and it doesn’t take away from them being nice. Now the service side. Warm friendly greet by gentleman, was given enough time to decide by lady server, courses came in good and acceptable times. My hang up was the general rudeness/frosty attitude that was given by lady server. I want to be clear I do not want her to lose her job as in this Christmas period she may have had long day with full restaurant, rushed off her feet with many rude clients that have had far too much to drink. That being said I felt in the service industry and with us being no trouble to her, we did not deserve the rudeness we received at times. To me it was only thing that let down my experience, but I get feeling it had been an awful shift for her with certain customers and that’s why I don’t want her sacked but only mild words if any action at all. I would certainly recommend this restaurant and what I ordered and I’m sure that service complaint was a one time thing and definitely recommend a visit as family, couples, friends or alone. I will certainly be going again.

Birthday lunch with a free main course. My wife and I both had mushrooms as a starter - good. Main courses, lamb which was well cooked, very nice, and an excellent mixed grill - couldn't have been better. The crumble desserts were disappointing - the fruit would have been better if it has been cut smaller, instead of a half peach or apricot. The crumble and custard were good but there was an underlying taste which wasn't pleasant.

Visited yesterday for my birthday and we had a lovely meal and started off with a lovely friendly waitress but it was a bit spoiled at the end when it came to the bill.

I was over charged for my dessert by over £2.00 which was on the saver menu but I got charged full price, when I queried this she said as she had taken over from somebody else she was not aware I had ordered it from the daytime saver menu. Surely the staff should know what items are on the daytime saver menu ?

Then I had ordered a 3 course meal for my 2 children. It states £5.99 for 3 courses and a drink of squash.

On the bill I had been charged separately for all 3 courses which meant around 70p on top of each one. Okay this is not mega money but again when I queried it she said "did you order the squash with the meals ?"

I said I thought it just come with the meal, your menu states 3 courses and a glass of squash, I wasn't offered it nor did i order it, I expected it to come with the meal. If I go into Macdonalds and ask for a childrens meal they ask me 'what drink'. they don't overcharge me and then say it's my fault for not ordering the drink. I asked am i going to be charged more because we didn't get the drink we should have had ?

The waitress replied that the only way she could now put this through as a 3 course meal was to add the squash on to the price and then that 'should' amend it.

She did this and not only did we not get the squash it had added a further £1.10 to our bill.

Again I said this is not right so she went and seen the Manager.

The third bill we had was still not right and I was told it is right as the manager has checked it.

I said she needs to check it again as the dessert i had had been discounted but the childrens meals were still too much.

At the fourth attempt and me getting my partner to add up our bill on his phone we actually reached the correct amount.

We are all human and mistakes can be made by anyone but between the waitress and the Manager not one of them apologised for the inconvenience or the mistake in the first place, if anything I was made feel like I was inconveniencing them. I actually apologised for pointing out their mistake and said 'sorry I don't mean to be picky but I don't want to pay more money than i should'. Not one of them said anything to that comment.

At no point was anyone rude I am not saying that, but this was not a nice experience and put a bit of a downer on what had initially been excellent service and a gorgeous meal.

Had we have received an apology instead of being made feel like a nuisance I would have left a 5* review.

I can see from previous reviews that you do not reply to peoples issues, good customer service is to answer all reviews, good or bad.

We booked via phone and was told no spaces till 7.15pm we arrived at 7.00pm and it was almost empty. I don't normally moan about food however I'm going to. I ordered the mixed grill and it came out in a timely manner. I tried to cut the steak with the steak knife and it simply could not cut the steak. My Mrs had ordered a small steak as well and that was exactly the same. We made the waitress aware that the steaks were uneatable. Instead of the plate being removed the steaks was only removed, that left me eating the rest of my food. By the time the replacement steak arrived (not much better) asked to be cooked medium but came rare my food had been eaten. My mrs remainder had gone cold. The wife completely left hers. I ate my rare steak on its own. However the service was good apart from removing the whole plate instead of just the steak. My Mrs complained about the state of the women's toilets, she said they smelt. We wasn't charged for the food which was a nice touch as I had eaten mine, but my Mrs had not eaten and put her off. I have eaten here before and had a decent meal.



I understand the meat can be tough and they are not to know as they do not cut the meat as it's pre-packaged.



I don't think I will be returning.

Visited yesterday with my wife and kids. I had a mixed grill and my youngest had kids steak and chips, we sent both steaks back as they were both WD and we ask for M/R they were both tough as old boots. My wife asked for seasoned fries and got plain. Our meals were sat under the hot lights for a good 10 minuets before it was served to us. The waitress dealt with the steak situation well and replaced them straight away but the replacements were not much better. Wouldn’t rush back, I find it really hit and miss here.

Poor service on arrival waited 5 minutes after 3 staff didn't acknowledge us before we were asked to wait 15 min for a table, restaurant was half empty. Eventually showed to a table sat and waited 20 minutes and eventually I found waitress and asked if anyone could take our order. Food came quickly but my chips were cold, waitress came and swapped them with another bowl of cold chips eventually 3rd time lucky chips arrived hot! We wont be going back!

Later order the one course with squash, for kids, the menu stated nothing anything about children's squash, carried on, food eaten again still no mention on squash, plates taken away and I questioned bill... if fruit shoots were squash???

Ok so why when I asked if you did fruit shoots did manager not asked are you dinning as kids get a squash,

Or when we ordered kids meals did it again not get asked what squash blackcurrant or orange was it they wanted,

After meal I asked waitress if fruit shoots were squash, No she replied, I said ok, she said does it not state this no I replied,

She said that's not good...

So after all said and done, not clearly implemented that a squash is a cordial from behind bar and doesn't include the other kids drinks on menu, and also didn't even get offered the squash was had then already payed for no offer at all,

Sounds petty but the two fruit shoots weve been charged for were over £3.50, I can get 12 for a £5er,

Just think how many customers having this happen to them on a daily basis,££££££££ all adds up!!!!!

We booked a table for 8 people, for 5pm today, we were seated fairly quickly, the starters were bland, the food took forever to come out, once the meals arrived the potatoes were green and chitting, (I know as I have an allotment) I told the waitress and she said she would speak with the chef (chef!!!!!!!!!!) My Mums potatoes were exactly the same, we had a very half-hearted apology from the waitress, who really didn't give a toss, we had to ask another memeber of staff for the childrens pudding, which was over half an hour wait, slow service, no care, no attention to detail, I had to pick 2 knives up from the floor before even sitting down, this is a child friendly place so why are they allowing knives on the floor, health and safteyconcerns here? Once the bill arrived there was no discount for the out of date green chitting potatoes, no apology from the chef, the waitress really didn't care, no comment from the manager, whilst we were waiting for the bill, the table behind us also sent their food back, what a joke this place is, please please please DO NOT eat here. One star is very generous.

Service was very very slow when food arrived my partner had the fish and chips off the larger menu the chips were burnt the fish was well cooked on one side and swamped in fat.my sons burger was dry and hard .. my steak was fatty and the chips were hard inside I did not eat my meal and we sent my partners back the waiter wanted all all to wait for 10 minutes for my partner to have a new set of chips which the whole point was to have a family meal together we asked for the manager who did not apologise in any way and wanted us to pay for the 3 other meals which he could see I had not eaten mine ...my sons burger had 1 bite out of it. The manager was very intimidatingly he leaned over the table telling us we were paying for the other meals we point blank refused to pay for what we hadn’t even eaten we paid for the drinks and will never go back again. There was no apology or any offer to replace all our meals just a manager who thought he was the bees knees.

Just came in with the family for a Father’s Day treat and I was sadly disappointed with the food! The staff we’re so lovely though and helpful, my little boy chocked on his steak and one of the waitresses come straight over to make sure he was okay.

I went for a meal today and I will never be returning I had the rib eye steak asked for this to be medium/rare for the waitress to question me over my choice asking me if I have had this cut of steak before and was I sure I wanted it cooked that way ? My steak came and it was well done as we was a large group I just tried to eat it but when I picked up a chip the oil came running out of it so I couldn’t eat those either I paid £18.39 for a meal I did not eat it was disgusting!!!! I would not recommend !

Came for a meal last night , to be told at around 8pm they wouldn't be serving food as there's been a problem in the kitchen. Though as we looked around people were still being served there main meals!. Despite this we stayed for a drink to decide where to go next. On doing so we overheard staff talking of some lock in they were going to be having soon and couldn't wait to get drunk. Is that why you couldn't be bothered to serve anymore customers???!! Before leaving I needed the ladies so I put my glass on a table adjacent to the toilets to get a stern look. When the person I was with asked if there was a problem she said " I've just cleaned and set that table" rudely. Absolutely terrible service , unfriendly /mardy staff, overpriced drinks and a restaurant that seems to only serve food to certain people at certain times!

I asked am i going to be charged more because we didn't get the drink we should have had ?

The waitress replied that the only way she could now put this through as a 3 course meal was to add the squash on to the price and then that 'should' amend it.

She did this and not only did we not get the squash it had added a further £1.10 to our bill.

Again I said this is not right so she went and seen the Manager.

The third bill we had was still not right and I was told it is right as the manager has checked it.

I said she needs to check it again as the dessert i had had been discounted but the childrens meals were still too much.

At the fourth attempt and me getting my partner to add up our bill on his phone we actually reached the correct amount.

We are all human and mistakes can be made by anyone but between the waitress and the Manager not one of them apologised for the inconvenience or the mistake in the first place, if anything I was made feel like I was inconveniencing them. I actually apologised for pointing out their mistake and said 'sorry I don't mean to be picky but I don't want to pay more money than i should'. Not one of them said anything to that comment.

At no point was anyone rude I am not saying that, but this was not a nice experience and put a bit of a downer on what had initially been excellent service and a gorgeous meal.

Had we have received an apology instead of being made feel like a nuisance I would have left a 5* review.

I can see from previous reviews that you do not reply to peoples issues, good customer service is to answer all reviews, good or bad.

We booked via phone and was told no spaces till 7.15pm we arrived at 7.00pm and it was almost empty. I don't normally moan about food however I'm going to. I ordered the mixed grill and it came out in a timely manner. I tried to cut the steak with the steak knife and it simply could not cut the steak. My Mrs had ordered a small steak as well and that was exactly the same. We made the waitress aware that the steaks were uneatable. Instead of the plate being removed the steaks was only removed, that left me eating the rest of my food. By the time the replacement steak arrived (not much better) asked to be cooked medium but came rare my food had been eaten. My mrs remainder had gone cold. The wife completely left hers. I ate my rare steak on its own. However the service was good apart from removing the whole plate instead of just the steak. My Mrs complained about the state of the women's toilets, she said they smelt. We wasn't charged for the food which was a nice touch as I had eaten mine, but my Mrs had not eaten and put her off. I have eaten here before and had a decent meal.



I understand the meat can be tough and they are not to know as they do not cut the meat as it's pre-packaged.



I don't think I will be returning.

Visited yesterday with my wife and kids. I had a mixed grill and my youngest had kids steak and chips, we sent both steaks back as they were both WD and we ask for M/R they were both tough as old boots. My wife asked for seasoned fries and got plain. Our meals were sat under the hot lights for a good 10 minuets before it was served to us. The waitress dealt with the steak situation well and replaced them straight away but the replacements were not much better. Wouldn’t rush back, I find it really hit and miss here.

Poor service on arrival waited 5 minutes after 3 staff didn't acknowledge us before we were asked to wait 15 min for a table, restaurant was half empty. Eventually showed to a table sat and waited 20 minutes and eventually I found waitress and asked if anyone could take our order. Food came quickly but my chips were cold, waitress came and swapped them with another bowl of cold chips eventually 3rd time lucky chips arrived hot! We wont be going back!

Ok so why when I asked if you did fruit shoots did manager not asked are you dinning as kids get a squash,

Or when we ordered kids meals did it again not get asked what squash blackcurrant or orange was it they wanted,

After meal I asked waitress if fruit shoots were squash, No she replied, I said ok, she said does it not state this no I replied,

She said that's not good...

So after all said and done, not clearly implemented that a squash is a cordial from behind bar and doesn't include the other kids drinks on menu, and also didn't even get offered the squash was had then already payed for no offer at all,

Sounds petty but the two fruit shoots weve been charged for were over £3.50, I can get 12 for a £5er,

Just think how many customers having this happen to them on a daily basis,££££££££ all adds up!!!!!

We booked a table for 8 people, for 5pm today, we were seated fairly quickly, the starters were bland, the food took forever to come out, once the meals arrived the potatoes were green and chitting, (I know as I have an allotment) I told the waitress and she said she would speak with the chef (chef!!!!!!!!!!) My Mums potatoes were exactly the same, we had a very half-hearted apology from the waitress, who really didn't give a toss, we had to ask another memeber of staff for the childrens pudding, which was over half an hour wait, slow service, no care, no attention to detail, I had to pick 2 knives up from the floor before even sitting down, this is a child friendly place so why are they allowing knives on the floor, health and safteyconcerns here? Once the bill arrived there was no discount for the out of date green chitting potatoes, no apology from the chef, the waitress really didn't care, no comment from the manager, whilst we were waiting for the bill, the table behind us also sent their food back, what a joke this place is, please please please DO NOT eat here. One star is very generous.

Service was very very slow when food arrived my partner had the fish and chips off the larger menu the chips were burnt the fish was well cooked on one side and swamped in fat.my sons burger was dry and hard .. my steak was fatty and the chips were hard inside I did not eat my meal and we sent my partners back the waiter wanted all all to wait for 10 minutes for my partner to have a new set of chips which the whole point was to have a family meal together we asked for the manager who did not apologise in any way and wanted us to pay for the 3 other meals which he could see I had not eaten mine ...my sons burger had 1 bite out of it. The manager was very intimidatingly he leaned over the table telling us we were paying for the other meals we point blank refused to pay for what we hadn’t even eaten we paid for the drinks and will never go back again. There was no apology or any offer to replace all our meals just a manager who thought he was the bees knees.

Just came in with the family for a Father’s Day treat and I was sadly disappointed with the food! The staff we’re so lovely though and helpful, my little boy chocked on his steak and one of the waitresses come straight over to make sure he was okay.

I went for a meal today and I will never be returning I had the rib eye steak asked for this to be medium/rare for the waitress to question me over my choice asking me if I have had this cut of steak before and was I sure I wanted it cooked that way ? My steak came and it was well done as we was a large group I just tried to eat it but when I picked up a chip the oil came running out of it so I couldn’t eat those either I paid £18.39 for a meal I did not eat it was disgusting!!!! I would not recommend !

Though as we looked around people were still being served there main meals!. Despite this we stayed for a drink to decide where to go next. On doing so we overheard staff talking of some lock in they were going to be having soon and couldn't wait to get drunk. Is that why you couldn't be bothered to serve anymore customers???!! Before leaving I needed the ladies so I put my glass on a table adjacent to the toilets to get a stern look. When the person I was with asked if there was a problem she said " I've just cleaned and set that table" rudely. Absolutely terrible service , unfriendly /mardy staff, overpriced drinks and a restaurant that seems to only serve food to certain people at certain times!

Met a friend who I hadn't seen for a long time. Sat talking for nearly 3 hours and staff were friendly and didn't rush us out thank-you. Food was good

I have been going to the griff for over 2 decades, my most favourite place ever, love the food, the atmosphere, the staff, love mike. They always make us feel so welcome, never had a bad meal or bad service. Cannot praise them enough ��

Let’s start off with the good. I had their fillet steak as a main and I believe it’s one of the best fillet steaks around. I have been many places and beefeaters fillet steak is full 5 stars. The starter was nice too which was loaded potato dippers, my only recommendation to them about this is being like cut up cheese boat strips or being loaded potato skins and not very very thin slices that are topped, but that’s personal and it doesn’t take away from them being nice. Now the service side. Warm friendly greet by gentleman, was given enough time to decide by lady server, courses came in good and acceptable times. My hang up was the general rudeness/frosty attitude that was given by lady server. I want to be clear I do not want her to lose her job as in this Christmas period she may have had long day with full restaurant, rushed off her feet with many rude clients that have had far too much to drink. That being said I felt in the service industry and with us being no trouble to her, we did not deserve the rudeness we received at times. To me it was only thing that let down my experience, but I get feeling it had been an awful shift for her with certain customers and that’s why I don’t want her sacked but only mild words if any action at all. I would certainly recommend this restaurant and what I ordered and I’m sure that service complaint was a one time thing and definitely recommend a visit as family, couples, friends or alone. I will certainly be going again.

Birthday lunch with a free main course. My wife and I both had mushrooms as a starter - good. Main courses, lamb which was well cooked, very nice, and an excellent mixed grill - couldn't have been better. The crumble desserts were disappointing - the fruit would have been better if it has been cut smaller, instead of a half peach or apricot. The crumble and custard were good but there was an underlying taste which wasn't pleasant.

Visited yesterday for my birthday and we had a lovely meal and started off with a lovely friendly waitress but it was a bit spoiled at the end when it came to the bill.

I was over charged for my dessert by over £2.00 which was on the saver menu but I got charged full price, when I queried this she said as she had taken over from somebody else she was not aware I had ordered it from the daytime saver menu. Surely the staff should know what items are on the daytime saver menu ?

Then I had ordered a 3 course meal for my 2 children. It states £5.99 for 3 courses and a drink of squash.
