The students were pleased to pose with Ann Widdecombe, who starred as the Evil Queen in Snow White and Seven Dwarfs, after the show. 🎭

Our ESOL students took a trip to Brooklands Museum, where they got to try out the new Formula 1 simulator and the Red Arrows 4D experience!
This was a great opportunity for the students to learn about British motor racing and aviation, whilst putting into practice the English that they're learning on the course!

Our Engineering students worked hard making miniature Christmas trees out of metal, which were then sold in aid of a new dementia-friendly garden, Camomile Courtyard, at East Surrey Hospital.
Their creations, constructed with aluminium, brass and engineering components, were available for staff and students to buy. A total of £100 was raised from the sales, with half covering the material costs and half going towards upkeep of the garden.
Thank you to the Engineering department for your hard work on this festive fundraiser!

When I first started college I was very shy and didn’t have any GCSE’s. East Surrey College really helped my confidence and helped me to grow as a person and I now feel like I can see a future in a career I want to follow. I studied IT level 2 and 3 and I’ve really enjoyed learning about coding and website design. Within this course I have learnt a lot about the different aspects of IT and I’m looking forward to a future with IT. The support my tutors gave me has been amazing and I’ve really appreciated it through these 3 years that I have been here. The facilities here at the college are great and I would highly recommend this College to anyone!

Very impressed with the induction process. My sons interview was excellent and tutors were very down to earth and answered all questions.

Update! June 2018.

Here we are a year on and again I want to say a huge thanks to Sally and all of her Team for all their support, dedication and professionalism over the last two years!

I am so proud of how well my son has done and how he has managed to overcome his difficulties and turn them into strengths.

He has now started his new job and has an amazing career and opportunities ahead of him.

We're going to miss everyone there. Carry on the excellent work you are all doing in the knowledge that it's so worthwhile! #sendteamarestars

Extremely pleased with the high level of support, encouragement and communication that my son and I have received over the last year from the SEN department. The Supported Learning Team are incredibly professional and genuinely care about the young people they are working with, which is evident by the time they invest individually to support each student in order to meet their specific needs. In particular Sally McGuire and Tessa Rapaport have been amazing! As a parent, their knowledge and skills in working with this group is very reassuring. Thank you all of you! X

User

My son attends the supported learning unit. I can't praise the team highly enough for the amazing support and encouragement given to him. They have enabled him to make fantastic progress and the manager is always available for feedback, concerns and queries.

My daughter has just completed

her first year a ESC.

What a fantastic place, she is on the life skills course and I can honestly say she has progressed more academically and emotionally in just this last year than in her time at secondary school.

The teachers and LSA's are so in tune with what my daughter needs and she has made some great friends.

It's a brilliant place.

I’m writing this review on behalf of Grant Reeves, currently on the life and living skills course within the SEND. Grant is really enjoying the course and his time at the college. The tutors are really nice and welcoming especially Sally, as Grant started late in the term. Would definitely recommend this college.

User

I would highly recommend the supported internship course to anyone looking for a job. I have done this course and if it hadn't been for the fantastic help and support I received from Sally McGuire and Fiona Rowntree, I wouldn't be working at Sainsbury's as I have happily been doing for the past 8 weeks now and hope to continue there.

User

I studied childcare level 2 at EastSurrey and loved it! The tutor was lovely and supported me a lot! Would recommend this course and college.

User

I have just finished my hospitality course. I feel the course has really helped me gain my confidence in cooking.

I enjoyed the day outs especially the Waiters Race in Hyde Park

Everyone in my class is friendly and fun and will miss them. xx

User

I have attended 3 business workshops this week and I have had a brilliant experience. Very welcoming staff and warm atmosphere. I’ve already recommended ESC to my friend to search for workshop and attention. Absolutely fantastic place to be!

User

Great college. I wasn't there for long but I found the staff friendly and helpful and the people were lovely. Excellent education provision. I know a lot of people who have had a good experience there and gone on to succeed. Would recommend.

User

Fantastic College, offering excellent support for all students by some of the best staff i have ever met. Tutors are unconditionally supportive throughout your entire time at the college. A warm and friendly atmosphere which makes for a fantastic learning environment. A wide range of backgrounds from both students and teachers, the diversity of this college is amazing. Everyone is treated equally and fairly on a daily basis. Would never think of attending anywhere else, highly recommend this college.

User

All STARS. I am very happy with all the emotional, social, practical and academic support that my son has been given. Ali, Terence and all the staffs at the IT and Business Department have all been a Star. Massive thank you for all your help. Also, my gratitude to Richard too. You all helped James to pull through. There is so much compassion, respect, understanding, support, positive attitude and behaviour of the staff: which is the best and overwhelming. Consequently, there is overall success in wellbeing and academic achievements of my boy. This is someone that came from a negative institutional environment : Ali and the other staffs at the East Surrey college has been a major blessing. Their love and kindness towards my child is immense. They have restored my son confidence and inner peace. A huge apology to Ali too for initial misunderstanding. I appreciate you, your pleasantness and your support. God bless you mightily. Again, many thanks. Justine.

My son is just coming up to his first year at East Surrey. At first he found it difficult because it was a huge change to school. He has grown in confidence and enjoying his learning. The teachers have helped him to flourish. They have always been there for him and if i need to get in touch they are always available at a time to suit me. The teachers have encouraged him in everything he chooses to do, even when things are difficult for him he still manages to achieve. I would highly recommend this unit to other students who need supported learning. Many Thanks

User

Cannot recommend yet as I only looked round a small part of the college. What I saw was impressive but have to wait till my son goes there to fully comment.

User

The tutors where polite and helpful and truly supporting but the other students i simply could not get along with due to this i can recomend this college if youmhave the patience or tember to deal with them
