DID YOU KNOW?.....
For Armenians, the POMEGRANATE is one of the most recognizable symbols of the country. In our mythology, it symbolizes FERTILITY and good FORTUNE. It was considered the guardian against the evil eye.

This was our first visit to this amazing restaurant. We even had the pleasure to eat al-fresco which made a delightful change.

We chose the two course lunch menu and both were absolutely delicious and served promptly.

5* service from start to finish, thank you.

Stepping inside from the busy stress of the Xmas markets, it's a haven of smiles, tranquility and high value, freshly prepared, authentic healthy food.

We didn't even book and yet, on a very busy night in Manchester, we were seated within 5 mins, had great service, and an outstanding feast full of flavours and plentiful without being heavy. Big thanks to everybody in the office, restaurant and kitchen, for a fabulous experience.

Also the new decor is well suited. It wouldn't be right if it was too ostentatious. Clean lines, the tables look well suited in the context of the new environment, and its a bit less distracting even though the old place was full of an unusual charm.

You have maintained your warm and attractive charm - through your people.

Top marks.

On a busy Saturday night we were just expecting a normal night out. The food was great, the staff were lovely. A quick meal turned into a 5 hour stint. We totally lost track of time. Such a lovely place. Thank you

Not cheap but worth it. Will go again and bring friends. Delicious meats, tender and rich taste, plenty of veg and do not miss the traditional coffee!

I went with a friend. We shared the meat platter and other authentic Armenian dishes. Washed down with Russian beer and Armenian red wine. It was very tasty. Staff were helpful and friendly. We were the last out and they gave us free vodka shots. I don’t recognise any of the criticism on here. Some people moan because they can.

Having never eaten Armenian food, I was looking forward to this meal. I wasn’t disappointed . The five of us enjoyed a tremendous dining experience. Will definitely revisit on our next visit to Manchester.

User

Had an amazing meal, our best of our ten-day UK trip. Highly recommend!

User

Had an amazing Armenian feast last night. Instead of the usual starters and mains, we decided on 9 starters to get a taste of Armenia. When ordering our starters our waiter was polite, hospitable and funny. He was able to suggest a starter we hadn't thought of in order to compliment the others.

We were even encouraged to try certain ones first which helped with our decisions.

A small interlude in the middle of our taster menu was a lovely surprise as all the lights went off and a birthday cake was bought out and happy birthday was sang to a lovely family who seemed to be enjoying their night and as much as we were.

We eventually got through our delicious menu, which included Ikra, Yerevan khachapuri, Kufta, Falafel, Ararat and Feta in filo to name a few.

The air cured beef was delicious and truly fought over as was the salted herring with onions, dill and potatoes. The beers one yeasty and one hoppy complimented the food well.

Thank you for a lovely insight in to Armenian food and hospitality, we will be back and we will be bringing others.

User

Great food. My wife is russian and this place reminds her of home cooked food. Will be visiting again.

User

Great ambiance and delicious food! Friendly staff and at a great location! They also serve selection of wine where probably you won't find anywhere else in the UK!

User

Enjoyed this place very much. Great selection of Armenian, Russian, Georgian and Lebanese food. I definitely want to return when back to Manchester.

User

We thought we'd try this place as it's a cuisine we haven't tried before. We had the hummus with warm pitta bread, olives and dolma to start which was all very tasty, then we had the vegetarian moussaka and falafel also very delicious. Of course different cuisines will make things differently to each other and it was still very tasty, just very large portion sizes and the staff were so friendly, so we really enjoyed our visit.

User

Fabulous food and service (though the beer was overpriced) but the place has lost its’ character and cosiness following the refurb. Much preferred it as it was - carpet, twinkles and tons of memorabilia throughout.

User

Been coming to this restauarant for 30 years now.

When the previous owner sold up we stopped coming because we never thought the atmosphere would be the same. Decided to see if the place had changed and could not believe it when we walked down the stairs. The place has been transformed into a stunning fresh looking restauarant with a service with a smile. We were looked after by one of the staff and he was very attentative but not over the top. The only thing that was annoying was some woman singing along to everything that came over the PA system, she kept quiet when the Armenian tunes were on though!!

The menu was very varied and changed significantly from the old place, lots of new options available.

We tried usual humus & tabouli and a new starter that was some form of bread with egg cheese & beef. All were very nice.

Main course was fillet steak ( with chips!!!) never had these in the old place! And Sea Bass. Disappointed that this only came with spinach and tomatos, no rice or other option. Fish was lovely though.

All in all food was nice although I must say I personally preferred the food in the old restaurant.

I would definitely come down again and sample some other options in the menu.

It Will be celebrating 50 years in business next year and there are not a lot of places in the centre of Manchester that can say that.

That basically says it all!!!

Well done to the new owners.

Had a main dish Lamb Sashlik last weekend. Was a bit suprised grilled meat arrived with the bones, but anyway it was tasty. When I finished my meal I have spotted a red meat everywhere near the bone, so food was not fully grilled and I start worrying about poisoning as I am pregnant! The light in a restaurant was not superb bright so I haven't noticed it before. Waiter apologized and told me a story that pregnant woman can only get poison of uncooked chicken, not lamb :D another thing we found a mistake on a receipt, instead of 2 pina coladas they put 3. And it took soo long to sort out the payment, waiter was not coming to take a receipt when we finished, took around 20mins... wouldn't go again.

User

Pleasant staff but the food was disappointing. Not enough vegetables or other accompaniment to the meat fishes and not even side dishes you could order. The waiter was vague about what came with the food. No salad or even a solitary piece of greenery with the feta cheese in pastry starter. Not likely to go again.

User

Just not for me. If you are not familiar with Armenian, Georgian or Russian cuisine and your palate is more Mediterranean you won't underestand it. The Gulash was very bonny and dried. At food college we learned that dish and it should be like a stew with a paprika base sauce in it, garlic, onion and olive oil . There was not a drop of sauce In it . My lamb kofta was bland and overpower by coriander . The King prawn in wine sauce topped with cheese was very odd. It didn't work . In kitchen chef avoid cheese and seafood. I didn't understand the dishes. Too much celery , too much dill, too much cheese, too much coriander , too much raw onion. Not olive oil ( a sin for western chefs). But I blaming me for been an ignorant in central Middle East cuisine. It a say in food that you have to try a food 20 times before you like it . Good customer service , authentic Armenian decor and I'm sure I will try it another 19 times.

User

I really wanted to like this place, and will likely give it another chance.

However, we felt quite short-changed with what was a £15 meat sharing platter. The platter looked the part on a three-tiered server but there wasn't enough there for a two-person starter, much of it was salad. We we're halving meatballs and had a small sausage to share, and the lamb was missing altogether. The pleasant Polish waiter working on his own explained with a little embarrassment that they probably just didn't have all the meat for the platter. Thumbs up for honesty, then.

It has to be said also that what little meat there was and the small lavash bread we were expected to share was luke warm at best, and the speed at which the platter came out suggests the meat is frozen or leftover.

Spent a lot of money just to experience the worst dinner date in my life, decided to try Armenian food with couple of friends, ordered Marinated chicken cooked with red wine and mushrooms with coriander, after one hour and half they have put a plate in front of me, more tasted like left over Nandos, and when I complained , Been told it is cooked with mushroom, which i believe was not the case at all, very dry and tasteless, manager gave me %50 discound on the dish, ended up payin £7.50 instead of £15, and when I asked to pack it and take it home cause i barely even touched it, they told me i’m not allowed cause I might get food poisoning!!! bare that in mind thats when they have packed my friends food right in front of my eyes, and manager’s excuse was a change in menu, which he mentioned it couple of times, that doesnt even make sense, because the menu I had was not updated and when I ordered it i havent been told about the changes. Not even a single apology, he questioned my wisdom and common sense in front of my friends, and made me feel embarrassed just cause I asked for my right. The most annoying part is how they treated me, like i should have known about their change of menu, and he actually mentioned this is the best way of cooking it, very rude, not professional at all, waste of time, money and effort. Nobody should experience such a thing, especially with the customer service they provide its an absolute disaster. Hope with this feedback they can improve their seevice because it is a very busy location right in the middle of city centre, hope they dont treat another custome like this in future.
